Western Southern Tennis Tournament

Western Southern Tennis Tournament

Both projects centered on the same goal: creating standout, photo-ready installations for VIP attendees at the Western & Southern Tennis Tournament.

For the first piece, the organizers wanted to draw a younger audience to the VIP Center with a hybrid banner that worked as both an entryway and a photo booth. By blending tennis elements with the iconic Western & Southern logo, the design captured the spirit of the event while reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to local talent. The outdoor setting gave us some flexibility on specs within budget, but the materials had to hold up against rain and resist wind distortion. At 227.5″ x 170″, the banner was printed on dibond, a composite of aluminum sheathing over a thin fiber core, sourced from a nearby print shop to keep quality high and support local business. Given its unusual shape and structure, we built it on aluminum box trusses, which let us shape the piece exactly as designed and gave it the strength to stand up outdoors. The result was a striking, functional addition to the event space that left a lasting impression on visitors.

The second piece was a sculpture built to give VIP attendees a dedicated spot for memorable photos, a focal point in front of the VIP lounge where guests could capture their place at the event. It was made primarily from walnut wood and plexiglass, cut on the CNC machine and assembled with a mix of staples and glue, then finished with a premium primer paint to protect the wood and structure from rain. To tie it directly to the tournament, we worked with Western & Southern Linder Tennis to fill the sculpture with tennis balls, a playful, dynamic touch that reinforced the connection to the event.
