Kroger RedBull

Kroger + Redbull

For Kroger’s entry into Red Bull Flugtag, the event where teams pilot homemade, human-powered flying machines off a pier, I designed and fabricated a craft built around Kroger’s “Boost” delivery identity: an oversized shopping cart reimagined as a rocket ready for launch.

The centerpiece was a full-size blue cart wrapped in the Kroger logo, overflowing with fresh produce and propelled by a red “boost” canister trailing carved wooden flames. A fabric canopy above carried the Kroger mark and a painted cascade of fruit, doubling as the craft’s wing surface. Every element had to read instantly from the crowd and the water while staying light enough to meet Flugtag’s weight and structural limits.

The build paired CNC-milled and hand-fabricated parts: dimensional lettering, a sculpted flame element, and a wood-and-steel cart frame on working wheels. The produce spread mixed real-scale props with hand-painted detail, all finished to survive transport, handling, and the launch itself.

Alongside the cart, I developed a second concept, the “Glider,” a top-down diamond form with the Kroger logo rising from a dense bed of fruit, worked out through 3D renders and top- and side-view mockups before fabrication.
